Delphi SIG: IntraWeb

John Howard - John D. Howard Software

    Presentation Overview

At this meeting, John Howard will demonstrate IntraWeb, a new web application development platform from ATOZED Software which offers "pure Delphi" web development.

John observed many experienced followers of the Borland WebSnap newsgroup suddenly making the switch to IntraWeb. John could not resist investigating the product, and now he too has made the switch from WebSnap.

IntraWeb supports several modes of web development. In its simplest mode, you merely design Delphi desktop forms (dropping IW components), and by compiling you instantly have a web application that serves the same forms translated into web pages. The generated EXE even acts as its own web server. IntraWeb can compile the same app as an ISAPI DLL to be served by IIS or Apache. Another IntraWeb development mode supports "division of labor" in which a page designer would supply HTML files that call web objects created by the EXE or DLL. Some of IntraWeb's components produce Javascript transparently. Session management. Threaded processing. Even built-in detection of browser type and version which results in the transparent generation of idiosyncratic HTML and Javascript catering to the visitor's browser.
