    A Night with IBM and SVForum's Venture Startups & Financing Special Interest Group (SIG). Join us at the IBM Innovation Center for Silicon Valley Global Entrepreneur Mentor Day. This event provides you the opportunity to view a select group of startups who will pitch their company solutions. Each startup will have six minutes to describe how their business will make our planet smarter.

    You have an opportunity to listen and vote (along with a panel of judges) for the top two companies who will move on to the interview stage of IBM’s SmartCamp. Stay for the networking reception where we will announce the two companies selected.

    Panel Judge:
    Alan Chiu is a Principal at XSeed Capital, with over 15 years of product development expertise in enterprise software and data storage. Alan was previously Director of Product Management at Bycast (acquired by NetApp), an object storage software company with a global customer base that included some of the largest digital content repositories in the world. At Bycast, Alan and his team drove the product roadmap, managed OEM relationships with IBM and HP, and developed strategies to enter new vertical markets.

    Prior to Bycast, Alan served as an engineering manager at a network security start-up, and helped develop the market-leading digital prepress workflow system at Creo, which was acquired by Kodak for $1B in cash.

    Alan holds a BASc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia, as well as an MS in Management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was a Sloan Fellow focused on entrepreneurship, venture capital, and mergers and acquisitions. 

    Tae Hea Nahm – Managing Director, Storm Ventures
    Tae Hea Nahm is a founding Managing Director of Storm Ventures. He has incubated and invested in industry-leading mobile and SaaS companies, as the first or early investor. In mobile, he has invested in the full mobile stack ranging from semis to games and likes mobile enterprise. He incubated four mobile startups: AireSpace (where he was the founding CEO), AirPlug, Averail and MobileIron. There, he hired the founders, helped close the investor syndicate and continues as an active board member. As part of his mobile strategy, he works with the major Korean mobile leaders (LGE, Samsung and KT) and has invested in several Korean mobile startups (Com2uS). He is also a Corporate Strategy Advisor to KT (the leading Korean carrier and Storm LP). In SaaS, he is interested in mobile and revenue generation (EchoSign and Marketo). He recruited and funded Storm EIRs, including Jason Lemkin (who founded EchoSign) and Ilbok Lee (who founded Silego). Prior to Storm, Tae Hea was a founding partner of Venture Law Group, a partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and an associate at Shin & Kim (leading Korean law firm), where he advised 100’s of companies (eg Samsung and He holds an AB in Applied Mathematics from Harvard College and a JD from University of Chicago Law School. He was born in Seoul, Korea.

    Wendy Lung is Director, Corporate Strategy, in IBM’s Venture Capital Group, whose mission is to leverage external innovation for IBM by building relationships worldwide with VCs and their portfolio companies.  Her responsibilities include working with the venture community to drive early insights into IBM’s strategy development, expand the ecosystems for IBM’s platforms, and build strong partner foundations in emerging markets.  Lung has over a decade of experience with the venture and entrepreneurial communities, Including her role as executive for IBM’s Net Generation business in Asia Pacific.  Based in Singapore, she managed marketing and business development with internet start-ups as well as large service providers across Asia.  

    With over 20 years in the IT industry, her expertise includes sales, marketing and business development in industry verticals.  Most recently, Lung was director of marketing for IBM’s Global telecommunications industry.  Leading teams across North America, Europe and Asia, she was responsible for market strategy/planning and market development with the top service providers in the world.  Previously, she was responsible for IBM’s wholesale distribution and retail industry marketing for North America.  Lung started her career at IBM in sales for the small and medium size business (SMB) market in the Pacific Northwest

    7:10 - 8 pm Startup Pitching using PPT (10 minutes each - 6 minute each with 4 minute judges Q&A
    8 - 8:30 pm Networking / tally votes and announce 2 companies moving to next stage
