Description

  •

Social Innovation Leadership Forum on April 5th for a discounted rate of $10.

This event intends to continue the conversation and help the innovators of Silicon Valley come closer to achieving one common goal: providing social change in San Jose and giving relief to the social problems in our community.

The forum will be held this year at Santa Clara County's headquarters on April 5th, and we want to showcase partnerships that are being formed to address social issues in our region.

The theme of the forum this year is how can we promote innovation in leadership as it relates to reducing poverty in our region.  The Silicon Valley Did You Know Video , shown at last year’s forum, is a good summary of the problem statement we have as a region that the forum wants to positively address.

New this year we will be embracing the “Unconference” theme, or Open Space Technology, in which participants use social media to select topics and speakers prior to the event.  The Forum will be a highly interactive event whose purpose is:  Learn, Connect, and Collaborate!

Google and Adobe will lead and facilitate a session on "Building Sustainable Partner Communities”.  Cisco and a nonprofit, Community Technology Alliance, will be leading a track on how technology can be better empowered to facilitate communications between the nonprofits and public agencies.

Also new this year, we will be showcasing student-led social innovation ideas that were identified in our Silicon Valley Innovation Challenge held in the fall of 2012.  These ideas are very powerful and some have already received funding and are in operation.

If you know of someone from your organization or your network who is interested in social issues, please pass along this email.
