Intellectual Property (IP) is a strategic asset for technology companies. Many companies these days are spending huge amounts of money to protect and/or acquire IP. Emerging companies due to resource constraints may not invest smartly or ignore IP protection altogether to their detriment.

    Our panel will discuss:

    • How concerned should you be about intellectual property?  Both from the viewpoint of stuff your company     creates, and stuff you may knowingly or inadvertently infringe on.
    • How do you ensure that IP that moonlighting employees & consultants create, actually belongs to your company? What are the consequences if you don't do that?
    • When should you patent, & when should you use some other form of protection, such as a trade secret?
    • What can you do if an outsourcing company used in some other country produces their own product based on your IP?
    • If a US based big company comes out with a product that seems to use technology we created, how do you go about stopping them from doing this, or at least getting a slice of the action?
    • What's the best way for you to develop a meaningful IP strategy for my business, without spending huge amounts of money?
